Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Does Dyal Family Dentistry accept my insurance?
Answer: We currently accept most insurance plans. Due to the ever-changing nature of insurances and coverage, please call our office at 806-687-8492 to verify coverage under your dental plan. We request patient portion of the payment at the time of treatment. We also accept Care Credit, cash, checks, and credit cards.
Question: What type of toothbrush do you recommend?
Answer: Both manual and powered toothbrushes can thoroughly and effectively clean your teeth. A soft bristle toothbrush will not irritate the gums and may be preferred by patients who have a tendency to scrub too hard. Children enjoy the novelty of brushing with a powered toothbrush, which can encourage frequent and longer brushing. Whichever type of toothbrush you choice, toothbrushes (or heads) should be replaced every 3-6 months or when the bristles begin to splay.
Question: Are silver fillings safe?
Answer: Amalgam (silver fillings) is a stable alloy made with a combination of metallic elements and mercury. Dental amalgam has been thoroughly researched and tested more than any other restorative dental treatment and is safe and effective for the treatment of cavities.
Composite (tooth-colored fillings) is made from a mixture of resin and glass or quartz. Many people prefer composite fillings because they are more aesthetically pleasing although they do become discolored with age.
Dr. Dyal can help you decide which type of filling, amalgam or composite, will work the best for you.
